Going Out On The Town In Hot Pink Dresses

Despite whatever trends are out there at the moment, or predicted to be out there this coming season, one things for sure, when we get a chance us girls just love to wear Pink. This is a point not lost on our friends at Designer clothing store Van Mildert as they have recognised too when it comes to pinks, candy’s and corals that its an urge we can’t resist and the inner “Girly” just has to break free.
With the summer moving progressively nearer they’ve put together a collection of stunningly beautiful hot pink dresses that will become evermore popular over the coming months as the warmer weather draws ever closer and the big occasions of the summer start to encroach. So if you’ve got a big summer occasion to look forward to such as a birthday celebration, a wedding guest or a once in a life time holiday coming up well here’s your excuse to get hold of a belter of a designer dress.
However, its not lost on us that these designer dresses are not just a dress to wear for one occasion only, these hot pink designer dresses are investment pieces that need to work with different looks to get the most from them, to be worn time and time again regardless of the season. As and investment in your wardrobe, you should just as easily consider it in the warmth of a summer evening than in the cooler spring night or for a Christmas party for that matter, it all boils down to how you accessorise.
Accesorising is the key to any look to maintain the longevity of any wardrobe classic or capsule piece, so think not just about the dress but how to adapt the look just by adding a little garment here and there. So for example the D&G by Dolce and Gabbana Womens Stretch Satin Fuchsia Pink Dress is a classic sleeveless mini shift dress that could be worn equally well in the summer for example, if you can match with a pair of killer laboutins or Jimmy Choos, perhaps with a shawl to keep the chill off your shoulders. Alternatively in the cooler weather of spring or winter as Katie shows here in the photo, match with a D&G quilted leather jacket, Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Womens Temptation Black Shoes and a pair of black opaque tights to set the glam biker girl look off perfectly.

Celebrity designer dresses are a great way of working out which styles and designers will be hot for the season ahead. Celebrities often get an early start on the rest of us as in the form of samples, gifts and previews from the designer collections. They will be spotted in a designer dress well before it is available to the public. They also have a huge influence on which styles will popular, take for example that Kate Middleton dress that everyone wants. So which celebrity designer dresses are going to hot for SS11?
Kate Middleton
Of course Kate Middleton is the celebrity of the moment, with the Royal wedding set for the spring. All eyes are on what Kate is wearing and she has shown that even Royals can mix designer and high street and look amazingly stylish. Most notably she has recently been pictured wearing an elegant Issa dress to announce her engagement to Prince William and a dress by Reiss for her official engagement photographs. The question that everyone is still desperate to know is who will designer the royal wedding dress and what will it look like, easily the most more influential celebrity designer dress of the year and one that is likely to be copied for many years to come.
Kate’s favourite label Issa is likely to be big news this summer.
Rhihanna
Currently enjoying huge global success in the music industry, Rhihanna also keeps us all captivated with her bold dress sense. Recently she has been spotted in lots of floral dresses and all over floral prints including a Stella McCartney outfit, a stunning ankle length Jean Paul Gaultier ankle length 50′s style dress and a red poppy playsuit. Other good places to look for pretty floral designer dresses for the summer are D& G and Mulberry.
Emma Bunton
Emma Bunton has recently announced that she is pregnant and due to give birth in May. As with so many other celebrities she is likely to continue to work throughout her pregnancy presenting the hit TV show Dancing on Ice. She has already decided that she will be wearing dresses from the label Project D by Danni Minogue, presumably those that will allow for a little expansion.
Snow Drop Dress by Project D by Danni and Tabitha
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman star of the latest blockbuster film black swan is another star that has recently announced that she is pregnant. She is also making the most of celebrity designer dresses that conceal that baby bump in style. For the recent Palm Springs film festival in California she wore an elegant dress from the Vionnet SS11 collection with white chiffon shirt style top and black ruffle hem. The collar and cuffs were both embellished with gold studs.
Silk Crepe V Neck Dress by Vionnet
Finally, there is nothing like an awards ceremony for checking out the latest celebrity designer dresses. At the recent Golden Globes Awards some of the most notable outfits were Jennifer Anniston in a simple but stunning one shouldered Versace dress, Mariah Carey in a full length Herve Leger bandage dress, Drew Barrymore in a nude coloured Versace gown with crystal embellishments at the shoulder and hip and Sandra Bullock in a deep purple Bottega Veneta chiffon gown.

Reiss is a design led, sexy and iconic brand that sells both menswear, women’s wear and accessories with an emphasis on quality and value and some very stylish dresses. Their designs are innovative and original but also highly wearable and practical for the modern women or man. The brand originated in 1971 with a shop selling quality men’s tailoring in London. In 2000 the brand expanded its offerings to include women’s wear and it now boasts over 90 stores and a headquarters housed in the old London College of Fashion.
In 2010 Reiss beat off competition from the likes of All Saints, Topshop and New Look to win the Drapers award for the larger retailer of the year category. The brand was praised for its exceptional sell of women’s wear through 2010. The Drapers editor Jessica Brown even wore a trendy dress by Reiss to the ceremony. Reiss can also boast to be a favourite of the future queen of England, Kate Middleton. In particular the Nanette dress was was recently worn by Kate Middleton for her engagement portraits with Prince William, making it an instant success. Lucky for those who missed out the first time around on the , it will also be featuring in the brands spring summer 2011, we are guessing that might well sell out quickly too so keep your eye out for this popular white dress as it is due in stock mid January!
With such a history and track record in mens tailoring, it is not surprising that Reiss is leading the way on the high street for simple cut and modern minimalist womens wear. The minimalist trend has been simmering away for a number of seasons but for SS11 is set to reach bubbling point with so many designers featuring. The minimalist white dress is most definitely going to be huge for 2011.
Greys, blacks and whites will be key colours for this seasons minimalist look with some blue too. The sharply tailored pieces that are ideal for work wear but there are also plenty of more relaxed pieces which are perfect for casual wear including cashmere mix jumpers in creams and greys, and a versatile cotton mac. Most of the styles in the Reiss collection could simply be described as classic, so whilst they are right on trend for 2011, they won’t go out of trend in a hurry.
Quilted leather jacket – an unusual take on the SS11 trend for leather biker jackets, this quilted leather jacket is an investment that will last you for many seasons to come. Try teaming it with a little black dress for an evening out or a pair of jeans and white t shirt for a casual daytime look.
Structured Dress - these flattering styles of trendy dresses are modern classic and blue is one of the key colours for the spring and summer. Wear for work with a tailored jacket or team with some sky high heels and a glamorous cover up for a special occasion.
Double Breasted Tailored Jacket - this classic structured style of jacket is perfect for the city girl who wants to create just the right impression. It can be teamed with a classic shift dress and court shoes for a simple but very smart work outfit.

Once Christmas is done and dusted, there will be only one thing on any serious fashionistas mind and that is the sales. There is definitely an art to sales shopping. Those that plan and think carefully about it will end up with some amazing bargains including designer dresses on sale or maybe a beautiful handbag. Designer dresses and evening gowns on sale are particularly good buys because they are usually quite expensive items but also great investments that you are likely to hang onto for years to come. Just imagine how you will feel on New Years Eve in a dress that you have only paid a fraction of the real price for.
Only buy what you need
If you buy designer dresses on sale that you will never wear, they are not a bargain. You should only buy what you need and should have a good look through your wardrobe to beforehand to identify the gaps. Be aware of your danger zones! If you have a wardrobe full of shoes but can never resist buying a new pair steer well clear of the shoe department on sales day.
The early bird gets the worm
The best bargains will be snapped up straight away. Make sure that you know what date and time the sales start for your favourite stores. Have an early night the night before and get up early to make sure that you are there early. Each extra hour that you spend in bed in the morning could mean missing out on some of the most amazing designer dresses on sale, you can catch up with your sleep later.
Plan in advance
In order to stand the best chance of getting exactly what you want, you need to know exactly what that is. Write yourself a wish list in priority order and then set yourself a budget. You may not be able to get everything that you want on your list so have some second choices ready. You should also where possible try on items in advance. In the sales, shops, may not have changing rooms available and trying on can waste valuable time.
Shopping Online or Offline
There are advantages and disadvantages to shopping the sales both online and offline. For anyone who loves online dress shopping, the online sales may be your best option. You can shop from the comfort of your own home, cup of tea in hand. It is quicker and less exhausting than visiting the shops but can be equally as frustrating. There may be different items available in the online sales but you are also at the mercy of the website and your internet connection. Visiting the actual shops will work better for you if you know a particular shop and are familiar with the stock. It is also the best choice for those who like to see or feel the clothes before they buy and have sharp elbows.

How To Choose A Beautiful Ball Gown And Understanding A Formal Dress Code
November 8, 2010 by Ceri
Filed under designer clothing, Designer Dresses, Designer Party Dresses, designer prom dresses, Evening Dresses, Welcome To Designer Dresses, Women's Designer Dresses
If you are going to a ball over the festive season, no doubt you will be thinking very carefully about what you should wear. Ball gowns can be elaborate or simple and stunning but if you have never been to a ball before you may be a little puzzled about what sort of dress you should actually wear and what the dress code is.
When you receive an invitation or ticket that specifies that ‘white tie’ or ‘evening dress‘ or ‘formal’ for an evening event, this would usually mean that a ball gown would be appropriate. Debutantes would also wear a ball gown at their debut (yes this does still happen, check out Intrinsically Florrie’s blog to see what she wore as a modern debutante) and students would usually wear a ball gown or prom dress to their prom. Etiquette is a strange thing, it is often not clearly defined what you should wear and these days many of the more traditional dress code rules don’t always apply or are relaxed.
Traditionally a ball gown was an incredibly formal dress made of luxurious fabrics with a full skirt. It was often worn with a stole and gloves. These days whilst a ‘full’ ball gown will always be acceptable at such events you, you will usually find that people also wear a range of other dresses include evening dresses and even sometimes cocktail dresses. An evening dress is usually a full length dress whilst a cocktail dress can shorter or knee length.
As with everything in life, it really depends on the event what will be most appropriate. Some balls for example a military event may require a full and traditional style of ball dress whilst others like perhaps a school prom or college or university ball may be much more relaxed. If it is an event that runs every year, it is well worth seeing if you can find some pictures or talking to people who have attended in the past to see what people wore. If in doubt always opt for the more elaborate or formal option as you are always better over dressed than under dressed.
For designer dresses, look for ball gowns and evening wear by designers including Alberta Ferretti, Marchesa and Roksanda Ilincic. You can often also find beautiful formal evening wear in online department stores. Satins, chiffons and taffeta are all great fabrics for ball gowns and evening wear, you should also look for embellishment or elaborate details.
Whilst a traditional ball gown will always be dressy enough for even the most dressy of balls, there are also plenty of on trend evening dresses that could work well. One shouldered, Grecian and draped styles are very fashionable at the moment and are an elegant and flattering choice. Vintage styles are also very popular, look for lots of elaborate beading to get this look.

The Alternative to The Little Black Dress
Christmas is only a few months away and many of us will be starting to think about Christmas Party Dresses and whether to opt for the classic little black dress or perhaps something a little more experimental, perhaps a black designer dress that makes a very bold style statement. It can be difficult to move away from the little black dress for Christmas parties, it is just so flattering and works so well for the evening. It also works so well with so many different accessories. You could say that black is the ultimate neutral colour for evening wear and cocktail dresses. It is also very slimming and will help to disguise any lumps and bumps caused by a little Christmas over indulgence. Whilst a classic LBD or little black dress ticks all the boxes in terms of wear-ability, it can some times just be a little too predictable.
High End Fashion Scandinavian Style
That is where the latest very desirable black designer dresses by Designer Remix come in. The Designers Remix Collection is a Scandinavian high-end line of clothing designed to be as unpredictable as the women who wear them. Charlotte Eskildsen, the Designer and Creative Director of Designers Remix Collection describes the collection as ”sexy, edgy and slightly askew”.The look is beautiful and feminine but not in a traditional way. In 2008 Charlotte was nominated as the “Best Danish Designer” by 400 fashion professionals in the first Dansk Fashion Award ever given. She has also been chosen as a “Rising Star” by the Danish business magazine, Berlinske Tidendes Nyhedsmagasin.
Designeed For Confident And Powerful Woman Who Know What They Want
For autumn winter 2010, the Designer Remix Collection is called ‘Forever After’ and includes a range of designer black dresses with very interesting shapes. The alternative styles of little black dress are ideal for confident and powerful woman who know what they want from life and are not afraid to show it. The colour black allows you to completely focus your attention on the amazing l. These are exquisite cocktail dresses that are sure to get you noticed.
Designer Remix Collection – Megan Fox Black Dress
What could be more simple than a knee length black column dress but what makes this so special is the detail. The dress is made from recycled polyester and has a cowl neck. The straps feature a sculptured design which make the shoulders a strong focal point.
Designer Remix Collection – Trapez Black Dress
The shape of this sculpted black satin cocktail dress is based on the Empire State Building! Another Sculptural look with an asymmetrical halter neck which gives a nod to the masculine trend with its dinner jacket style lapel. It also has flattering ‘starburst’ darting on the mid thigh length skirt.
Designer Remix Collection – Tranoi Black Dress
Another black satin cocktail dress drawing inspiration from the Empire State Building but this time with a very different shape. The design sits proud of the shoulders creating a stunning look that certainly commands attention.
Such beautiful cocktail dresses command simple accessories that will not compete with them. You could try wearing a beautiful pair of red heels with these dresses though for a stunning look this Christmas.
